Entice: An Ignite Novella

As with everything written by one of your favourite authors, there comes a small amount of trepidation. Will I love this new story as much as the first? I had this thought when I went into Entice. And in all reality, I shouldn’t have.
Entice was the perfect novella. It was long enough to provide you with insight into the overall story of the series, and it was just as beautifully written as Ignite. I should never have worried at all.
Entice gave a look into the battle between Heaven and Hell, Pen’s role in Michael’s demise, and Pen and Az’s initiation into Hell, and how their relationship changed as a result. I LOVED this. I love Pen and Az’s relationship; it is one of my favourite aspects of the Ignite series. They have such diverse interactions, and I was so pleased that Entice focussed on that.
I still adore Az. He just seems so confused and in need of guidance (from someone not evil). I want to pull him out of the page and give him a hug, even if he yells profanities at me and wields his scythe. I’d do it anyway.
Again, Pen was divine. She is hands down one of my all time favourite female main characters that I have read in the young adult genre. She is so dedicated to Az, truly willing to do anything to protect him. And that is so extremely admirable. Again, we were given insight into her beautiful way of thinking, and the confusion she feels towards her situation. I loved finding out why she acts the way she does in the beginning of Ignite. It makes so much more sense now.
I devoured this book in one sitting. I simply could not tear myself away from the world that Erica has created. She writes in such a way that you feel is if you are right there along with Pen; seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels. It is addictive, and amazing. There was not one moment where I wasn't immersed in the world of Entice, and not one moment where I didn’t want that to be the case. Entice is simply superb.
The ending made me so extremely excited for Incite, and I cannot even fathom how I am going to cope with the time that I have to wait before I read more of this story. The Ignite series is fast becoming my all time favourite, and I will most definitely be reading Ignite and Entice numerous times before Incite is finally in my hands!
When I came across my name in the acknowledgements in Entice, my heart literally skipped a beat. I have never felt so honoured. I will always welcome you into my e-reader, Erica!
Erica Crouch has again blown me away with the beauty of her writing, as is becoming the norm with her. If you haven’t read Entice, you need to – now!
